Direct to Disc Vinyl records. IMPORTANT NOTE. PLEASE READ.
What we produce are called direct to disc vinyl records or lathe cut records. It means that these records were made by hand by our expert vinyl cutting engineer and are cut in realtime with our bespoke vinyl cutting lathe. These are not pressed records. Meaning, there will be some inconsistencies, they will not be “perfect” sounding, there will be some mechanical and stylus noise present, and each record will not be identical. Imagine a painting being copied by hand one at a time. Thats how special lathe cuts are. The quality of the cuts are determined by the audio sent. They are extremely difficult to make and only a handful of engineers know how to execute.
Audio when cut to disc is not a one to one representation. Vinyl is a finite medium. Please be informed about this. It is not like a CD or a digital file. There will always be imperfections in vinyl.,
Mastering for vinyl will be needed if you want excellent quality records.
Single order Vinyl are direct transfers and are not subject to mastering unless stated by the client.
Audio Guidelines for Vinyl Mastering and Vinyl Production:
De-ess all sibilant heavy instruments such as cymbals, ess in vocals and other ultra high frequency instruments
Mono the low end (Bass and Kick) unless its an audiophile Jazz mix
Max loudness of -18 Lufs
Max peak of -5db
Max Dynamic Range of +5
48khz 24bit minimum audio WAV files
192khz 24 bit maximum audio WAV files
MAXIMUM RUN TIME: 19minutes per side including lead in groove, song spaces and lead out lock groove.
Average of 4 minutes 30 seconds per song will get you 4 song per side on
12” Vinyl.
Please enumerate your songs per side when sending the song files. Ex: Side A-song1-song title, Side A - song2-song title etc etc.
IMPORTANT NOTE!!!:
We produce direct to disc vinyl and NOT pressed vinyl. Meaning the audio quality and dynamics is very crucial in creating a great record. Please have your audio mixed for vinyl by yourself or your engineer. We also offer mixing for vinyl services. Audio cut to vinyl is not a one to one representation from a digital file. Please be informed about this.
